View From a Window

Inspired by Susannah’s post, this is the view from my bedroom window.

Many people yearn for the countryside, for rolling hills or woods. For some the sound of distant waves and seagulls lulls them to sleep. And me? I take comfort in bricks and chimneys. In paved streets, urban cats and wheelie bins lining back entries. The town is in my bones.

Lovely view! A good spot for watching passers-by, methinks :-)
    Happy August Break!

Just wanted to compliment you on the photos of your site. I’m a Manc currently living in a village in the south, near Oxford. It’s pleasant enough but I definitely get homesick for the red bricks of Manchester. I too find comfort in bricks and chimneys!

Hi Jason, thank you for dropping in. I know what you mean. I got homesick a lot when I lived in London. Funny about the bricks isn’t it. Strangely comforting.

Levenshulmes terraces and semis of accrington bloods and bullnose bricks which grace the garden paths and door steps of m19 will always be a part of why I’m proud to call it home. Love your website.
